Dhokra is non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. This sort of metal casting has been used in India for over 4,000 years. Dating back to Mohenjo‑Daro and Harappa, Dhokra has been practiced continuously by tribal metalsmiths, especially in West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The name comes from the “Dhokra‑Damar” tribe renowned for their craftsmanship. |
